001. A Long Weekend in Bangkok
Arrived in Thailand safe and sound after a smooth 27-hour journey from Kent via Woolwich Arsenal and Hong Kong. Bangkok nothing like Whitstable.
Spent a long weekend looking at everything and walking everywhere (67,483 steps or 28 miles, apparently). Got familiar with the Bangkok Metro, the bus, and the humidity. Seen a giant golden Buddha, a live beaver for sale (unsure if for pet or food, unfortunately), a thousand tortoises, fruits we cannot name, sweets we cannot name, birds we cannot name, temples, a Butterfly garden, a hog-roast crocodile, and Khaosan Road’s backpackers. Had massages, eaten mango sticky rice. Tick, and tick!
Staying in town until Thursday, and then taking the slow train south to Hua Hin for some peace and quiet.
If anyone has advice for what to do with a fringe in humidity - please, help.
